Key Responsibilities
- Dispensing & Prescription Handling
- Read, interpret, and process prescriptions accurately as per doctor’s orders.
- Dispense the correct medicines in proper dosages and packaging.
- Ensure compliance with drug laws and regulations during dispensing.
- Advise patients on how and when to take their medicines safely.
- Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain accurate stock levels of medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies.
- Check expiry dates regularly and remove expired or damaged drugs.
- Order and receive stock from suppliers while maintaining purchase records.
- Store drugs properly as per temperature and safety requirements.
- Customer & Patient Support
- Counsel patients on possible side effects, interactions, and precautions.
- Suggest over-the-counter (OTC) medicines when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical information.
- Handle billing and payment at the pharmacy counter.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Follow all guidelines set by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Pharmacy Council of India.
- Maintain daily registers, sales records, and audit documents as required by law.
- Support inspections and licensing procedures with local authorities.
- Collaboration
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff for medication management.
- Report adverse drug reactions or issues to medical officers promptly.
- Support health awareness and vaccination programs conducted in the district.
Qualifications Required
- Educational:
- Minimum: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm).
- Must be registered with the Andhra Pradesh State Pharmacy Council.
- Experience:
- Fresh graduates may apply; experience in hospital or retail pharmacy preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of medicines, dosages, and interactions.
- Excellent communication and counseling skills in English and Telugu.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and responsibility in handling prescriptions.
- Good knowledge of computer-based billing and inventory software.
- Ethical practice and understanding of patient confidentiality.
Work Environment
